The Libertarian Futurist Societ’s finalist list looks fairly unpromising:
- Drug Lord: High Ground by Doug Casey and John Hunt (High Ground Books)
Guys, the answer to politics you don’t like in fiction isn’t more politics. - The Powers of the Earth, by Travis Corcoran (Morlock Publishing)
- Torchship, Torchship Pilot and Torchship Captain , by Karl Gallagher
- Darkship Revenge , by Sarah Hoyt (Baen Books) – I’ve only read one Sarah Hoyt book, Darkship Thieves, and while it was perfectly adequate, I had no desire to find the next book.
- The Corporation Wars: Emergence by Ken MacLeod (Orbit)
- Artemis, by Andy Weir (Crown Books) – I’ve read The Martian. It was a fine book and a terrible movie.
Prometheus Awards include a gold coin and plaque for the winners – with a one-ounce gold prize for Best Novel and smaller gold coins for the Prometheus Hall of Fame.
Oh, so there’s a monetary incentive for winning? Heh.
